
Chabris is in the valley of the river Cher and as such, there is plenty of easy walking on flat ground in the area. Long distance footpaths pass through the village and there are many local paths, including several well signposted circuits. Country lanes and access roads provide safe passage into the heart of the countryside while there are also paths along the river bank and beside the canal. Woodland, open country and waterside walks: we have it all!

The region is very popular with cyclists and in 2005 a stage of the Paris - Nice race ended in Chabris. There are over 25 signposted circuits in the immediate surroundings and many more further a field, including a 1,500-mile pan-European trail that follows the Loire and will eventually reach Budapest! Don't forget to stick the bikes on the roof rack.

Fishermen are extremely well catered for with river, canal and lake fishing all available nearby. There are detailed signs by the river Cher guiding them to the best spots. Carp, Barbel, Pike, Zander, Catfish and many others are fished in local waters.

There are plenty of equestrian activities available locally, including Chabris very own Pony Club. The traditional hunts with dogs in Cheverny (with a 90-dog pack) and Valancay are renowned.
Chabris has an air-gun shooting club, well-known throughout Europe for its marathon shooting competition in November. Hunting is very popular in France, with the Sologne being on the doorstep and in the season the region attracts hunters from all over the world.
The Loire Valley region has many rivers, great and small, together with lakes of all sizes. Canoeing is excellent on the Cher and other local rivers and canals, while sailing, windsurfing, water skiing and other water sports are all available within a few miles. Swimming is available at the indoor/outdoor pool in Chabris or in the warm waters of the sandy-bottomed river. Boat trips and hire are available just a few miles away including a beautiful trip to the romantic Chateaux at Chenonceaux.

Microlite and gliding is available a few minutes away towards Romorantin. Ballooning is offered at St. Romain and Montrichard.
Chabris had several tennis courts available for hire.

The is a little club in the village but if you are desperate for your football fix visit towns like Tours for the big events.
France's national game is represented by a huge competition piste just around the corner from the gite.
